OUR VISION

Our Vision is to become a nationwide community of Brothers transforming the way disability support is delivered to young men.

Our Brothers are true professionals who provide a service that changes the lives of those we care for.

Our Brothers live our VALUES of Passion, Humility, Mateship, and Growth Mindset. We have some big goals to step into and each day we move a little closer.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Every year on the 3rd of December, the world comes together to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD). Established by the United Nations in 1992, this day highlights the importance of empowering individuals with disabilities, ensuring their rights, and promoting inclusivity in all aspects of society.

There are over one billion people globally living with a form of disability. In Australia approximately 4.4 million people live with some form of disability, accounting for nearly 18% of our population.

Each year, the UN selects a theme that focuses on a specific aspect of disability inclusion. These themes emphasize key areas such as education, employment, and accessible technology, all aimed at fostering equal opportunities and reducing inequalities. This year’s theme is - Amplifying the Leadership of Persons With Disabilities for an Inclusive and Sustainable Future.

Governments, organisations, and communities worldwide use this occasion to reaffirm their commitment to creating a society that values diversity. Through collaborative efforts, IDPD inspires progress toward achieving the goals outlined in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which emphasize "leaving no one behind."

IDPD is not just a day of recognition - it is a call to action. It reminds us that building an inclusive world requires effort, understanding, and advocacy. By promoting accessibility, challenging stereotypes, and celebrating achievements, society can unlock the full potential of all its members, including those with disabilities.

A simple way we can all raise awareness for this important day is to wear the colour purple. Purple holds significant symbolism because purple is often associated with dignity, respect, and empowerment, making it an ideal choice for this occasion. The colour purple conveys a sense of unity and solidarity, reminding us of the importance of standing together to support all. By adopting and wearing the colour purple during this day, we as individuals and organisations can show our commitment to promoting inclusivity and equality for all.

Spotlight on a Brother

CHRISTIAN VOGES-HAUG

This month, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on Christian Voges-Haug,who continues to excel in his journey with Brothers Support Network.

Christian has consistently demonstrated what it means to live by our values of Mateship, Growth Mindset, Passion, and Humility. As a Brothers Team Leader, he went above and beyond to build strong relationships, support his team, and create meaningful, positive outcomes for our participants. His commitment to changing lives for the better has truly set him apart.

Recently, Christian stepped into the role of Area Manager, where his impact has only grown through his natural leadership abilities, dedication and deep understanding of what Brothers is building. He’s passionate about fostering growth - not just for himself but for everyone around him. And is an incredible example of what it means to be a Brother.

Thank you Christian for your hard work, unwavering commitment, and drive to make a difference. We couldn’t be more proud to have you on this journey with us!
