Welcome to Our May Newsletter

Another incredible month has passed us by here at Brothers with so many memorable moments. We have heaps of highlights for April but going through as a finalist for the 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards definitely is up there for us. On May 19th we will attend a gala presentation dinner to find out the final winner. To say we are proud to have been selected in the Top 4 is a true understatement. We received positive feedback from the judges congratulating us on our work, which was super cool to receive.

Another highlight was a photoshoot, we employed one of our participants Jordan as the official photographer to work alongside Taryn from Jaques and Co Photography. The fun we had was priceless, Jordan has a passion and a talent for photography and to give him his first paid job as a photographer was amazing. I wish we could have bottled Jordan's smile and excitement. It was contagious.

Our education focus this month is on Global Accessibility Awareness In alignment with The Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD) on May 18th.

Digital accessibility awareness refers to the recognition and understanding of the importance of ensuring that digital content is accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities or disabilities. In today's increasingly digital world, accessibility is a critical issue, as digital content has become a primary means of communication, education, and entertainment.

Digital accessibility means that people with disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, and cognitive disabilities, can access digital content with the same ease as people without disabilities. This requires creating digital content that is designed to be accessible to everyone, including those who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, alternative input devices, or captioning. Digital accessibility awareness is essential because it promotes inclusion and equity in the digital realm. It ensures that people with disabilities can fully participate in digital activities and access digital information without barriers. Digital accessibility awareness also helps to promote social responsibility, as organizations and individuals become more conscious of their responsibility to make their digital content accessible to everyone. Here at Brothers, we will be educating ourselves deeper and talking more about this important topic during May.

This video Highlights how incredible technology can be and how important digital access is for everyone.

Wishing you an amazing month of May.
