Welcome to Our Autumn Newsletter

We welcome you to our autumn newsletter where we will reflect on our accomplishments and shared experiences that have shaped the Brothers' journey so far this year.

To say it has been a busy start to the year is a complete understatement. As our community grows, so do our visions and our dreams. Turning 2 just a few months ago seems like a distant memory and we are now in full force working towards our year 3 goals. As we grow as a community we are aligning with our value of growth mindset more than ever and we are constantly working to implement new ways to provide the service of care we are known for. Our vision is our mission and each week we are stepping closer towards it.

OUR VISION

Our vision is to be a nationwide community of Brothers that have transformed the way support is delivered to young men. Our Brothers are true professionals who provide a service that changes the lives of those we care for.

We are always looking for Brothers to join our team who share our values and really want to join us in changing lives. This is not a job for just anyone looking for work. We are looking for Brothers who embrace our culture and care as much as we do. If you know someone that might be interested and would like to join our team, please forward our details so that we can connect.

WORDS FROM SOME OF OUR FAMILIES

"It was the best lasagna we as a family have ever had. Quade felt on top of the world. By the time we finished dinner and all the compliments, his confidence soared. Quade has asked to cook more regularly for the family. With the support of Brothers, Tuesday is now cooking day"

Makaylah - Quade's mum

"Mark is the best support worker I've had from anywhere."

HIGHLIGHT AND AWARDS

Brothers is a finalist for the Team Award at the 2024 QLD Disability Sector Awards.

The National Disability Leadership Organisation (NDLO) is an Australian not-for-profit organisation dedicated to creating a voice for the disability sector. The awards are targeted specifically at recognising the front-line work of dedicated people living with disability, as well as professionals, volunteers, and staff working within the sector.

Brothers earned a spot as a 2024 Semi-Finalist in the Awards Australia Foundation Diversity and Inclusion Award, a part of the prestigious 7NEWS Young Achiever Awards for Queensland. This recognition aims to celebrate and honour the significant contributions we are making across Queensland.

MARCH HIGHLIGHT

World Down Syndrome Day, observed annually on March 21st, serves as a global platform to raise awareness about Down syndrome and promote inclusion and understanding for individuals with this genetic condition.

On this significant day, communities worldwide come together to celebrate the unique abilities and contributions of people with Down syndrome.

The date, 21/3, symbolises the triplication of the 21st chromosome, which is characteristic of Down syndrome.

Beyond the festivities and events, the day emphasises the importance of fostering an inclusive society that embraces diversity and ensures equal opportunities for individuals with Down syndrome to thrive.

Through education, advocacy, and empowerment, World Down Syndrome Day aims to break down stereotypes, challenge misconceptions, and build a more inclusive world that recognizes and appreciates the richness that diversity brings to our communities.
